Simon Fillery

Simon is a passionate equity, diversity, inclusion and wellbeing (EDIW) leader with over 15 years experience in directing EDIW initiatives. He established SFC to share this experience with other organisations and to help to build a more inclusive world. He has been working with clients from start-ups/scale-ups to multinational organisations.


Significant roles have included:


  • As interim EMEA Head of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Wellbeing at Nomura, he led the work across the region, including establishing a governance framework, launching their socio-economic background work, moving towards equity in their parental leave policies and developing an integrated approach to Wellbeing. 


  • As the Modern Employer Consultant at GSK, he established the framework, developed and launched their plan to engage colleagues in creating an inclusive modern workplace through EDIW activity.


  • As the Head of Inclusion at the Bank of England, he led the Bank’s work to build an inclusive culture, where colleagues can be their best selves and can do their best work. The Bank does this through their work in diversity, wellbeing and the community.


  • At Barclays Investment Bank he was the Global Head of Diversity and Inclusion, leading their work to improve the representation of diverse staff and connect with diverse clients.

I cannot recommend Simon highly enough as a senior I&D Consultant.


I brought Simon into GSK on a 6 month contract & kept him on as a Consultant for 2-3 years. Simon led the establishment of our GSK UK Modern Employer Agenda Reporting to myself as the UK Country Head for HR and influencing the Modern Employer mindset across c 15,000 UK employees from building a sustainable UK campaign and spotting opportunities across gender, social mobility, ethnicity, age, and at moments that matter during the employee life cycle to drive our modern employer agenda & mindset.

Simon originally joined Nomura to cover for our Head of DEI who was on maternity leave. I was delighted at the way that he was able to use his considerable experience and expertise but adapt to the context and culture he was working in. He was very proactive in moving the agenda forward and quickly established credibility with the Executive Committee and the Board, as well as his peers and juniors. His pragmatic and proactive approach make him a true asset to any Firm that wants to develop their DEI agenda.
